Is Utopia attainable and desirable?
Between July 22nd and 29th a conference for scholars from the Balkans and Scandinavia about the significance of Utopias in history and our present culture. The conference was organized by the university of Novi Sad in Serbia/Montenegro and the organization Next Stop.
One of the invited speakers was Anders Sandberg. He addressed the issue of the desirability of Utopia in his speech "The big picture: the history of humanity and its extended phenotype".

Ny teknik gör regleringar föråldrade
Tankesmedjan Eudoxa bad Daniel B. Klein (professor i nationalekonomi vid Santa Clara University, USA) och Fred E. Foldvary (doktor i nationalekonomi vid Santa Clara University, USA) att skriva en debattartikel hur ny teknik gör ekonomiska transaktioner lättare, och därmed underminerar skälen för många statliga ingrepp.

Gården: när den goda överheten vill styra människor

Conferenza a Roma sulle emissioni di gas serra
Il 9 luglio la World Energy Council (WEC) Italia, in collaborazione con il gruppo ENI e la International Council for Capital Formation (ICCF) ha tenuto una conferenza nella sede dell'ENI su come il trattato di Kyoto influirà sull'economia italiana e su che ruolo le nuove tecnologie avranno per la diminuzione delle emissione di anidride carbonica.
Di rilievo i discorsi della dottoressa Margo Thorning della ICCF, di Corrado Clini direttore generale del ministero dell'ambiente, di Alessandro Clerici della ABB Italia e presidente della WEC Italia, di Alessandro Lanza capo-economista dell'ENI ed infine Ennio Fano responsabile ambiente del gruppo ENEL. Il pubblico comprendeva dirigenti dell'industria italiana, del settora dell'energia e scienziati.
Waldemar Ingdahl è stato invitato alla conferenza dalla ICCF, a seguito del suo articolo sull'argomento pubblicato nel Wall Street Journal Europe Kyoto's costs to European businesses are rising in data 23 giugno. Ingdahl ha partecipato al dibattito con questioni e commenti nell'ambito di un gruppo di esperti.
