Can science reports be trusted?

In his The Pulse article Would You Trust This Report? of September 7th, Anders Sandberg discusses the provocative essay "Why most published research findings are false" by John P.A. Ioannidis. Are the results of medical studies that certain? Is science undermined by this? What are the implications for health care policy?
