Defining animal rights extremism as terrorism

In his The Pulse article Can the Open Society Suffer? of October 25th, Anders Sandberg writes about the US Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, that defines animal rights extremism as terrorism. He also discusses if this is the right way forward to protect free scientific inquiery.
