Swedish cleantech hanging in the balance

Swedish cleantech is hot at the moment, the question is if it will take off or just fizz out.

Sweden’s cleantech has some very advanced research going on, with some quite interesting products being developed but it takes a lot of effort to go from promising technology to profitable cleantech products. How can Sweden accomplish it, and can it give other European nations some good advice on how to achieve it?

Waldemar Ingdahl gives the answers in The Stockholm Network's Climate of Opinion, issue 5, in his article Swedish Cleantech: Hanging in the Balance of Success.

The full issue of Climate of Opinion can be downloaded by clicking here

We would also like to recommend the article Hydrogen: The World of Energy in Transition by Jeffrey A. Serfass in the same issue. Mr. Serfass is the president of the National Hydrogen Association and gave a lecture on this topic at a seminar organized by Eudoxa in Stockholm this year.

Markets in emerging technologies need long- sighted and clear rules of conduct in order to develop- without politics interfering more than absolutely necessary. Instead the focus on environmental value, rather than business value, opened up for overly detailed regulations and quick changes of policy when political fads ebbed or flowed.
