The Last Amateurs
Waldemar Ingdahl describes how professionalisation has changed football. It is now more of a part of the entertainment industry, than a popular movement. This poses new challenges.
In the article Allsvenskan, the last football amateurs in Café Babel of September 19th, Ingdahl describes the developments of the Swedish top football league, the Allsvenskan. Football proves to be a surprisingly free market in Europe with an open labour market, especially when compared to the cartel-like professional sports leagues in North America.
