Human Enhancement

The discussion about human enhancement is here. Advances in biotechnology, neuroscience, computing and nanotechnology mean that we are in the early stages of a period of huge technological potential. Within a few decades we will see it having a huge impact on society, and throughly change everyday life.

This issue has seen quite a lot of debate in the United States, but quite seldom in Europe. There is one exception though: the United Kingdom as pointed out by my colleague Anders Sandberg.

Today, the think tank Demos publishes a most interesting publication Better Humans? The politics of human enhancement and life extension, a collection of essays by British scientists and commentators that explore the implications of human enhancement technologies.

It makes for a very good read, with far reaching implications.
