Succeeding where others fail
Last year I wrote about how things are going in the wrong direction for the pharmaceutical industry in general. New drugs that will finance future research and development are not reaching the market as quickly as they used to, and the cost of developing new drugs is steadily increasing.
Therefore I was very pleased to read this Philadelphia Inquirer article about Eli Lilly & Co (thanks Lene). Lilly's secret seems to be focusing on what they do well, and staying out of the desperate merger drive on the market (which by the way, ahem, what used to be Swedish companies have not done). Also the decision to early go for biotech is laudeable.
