Phantom risks
I read an article written by Peter W. Huber about "risks that tend to hover indefinitely in the background and never seem to crystallize" what he calls "Phantom risks".
Basically Huber's discussion is about if scientists will be required to validate their claims with other scientists before peddling them in court, and he writes from an American point-of-view. But the argument is also quite valid here in Europe, as politics enters more frequently into court cases and also decides on more issues involving risks.
Therefore a more thorough debate would be important, as the issue is also aggravated by the prevalence of the precautionary principle in the European debate.
